I've been having this idea cooking in my head for a couple of days about an AAR series that functions similarly to the game Choice Chamber. Where the viewers essentially make all of the important decisions and the player just works with what they get. In this situation, I was thinking that we could try this with the game "Warhammer 40k: Armageddon" which functions very similarly to the Panzer Corps game.
Warhammer 40k: Armageddon is a game set in the titular Warhammer 40,000 universe, where humanity is now united under a massive totalitarian government known as the "Imperium of Man". The Imperium is a decaying hell. Surrounded on all sides and constantly at war with foes like the endless swarms of the Tyranid hive minds, the brutal and unrelenting hoards of Orks, to beings formed from the very cosmos of the universe by the mad gods of chaos. In this game however we only have to deal with the orkish hoards invading the hive world of Armageddon, home to the Imperial Guard regiments of the Steel Legion. normally a mercy compared to engaging most other foes of the Imperium, these orks are led by the incredibly powerful warboss known as "Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka". A self-proclaimed prophet of the ork gods Gork and Mork, Ghazghkull has gathered a mighty war-host of Orks and is beginning what will be known as the Second War for Armageddon (the first being an invasion from the forces of the Chaos gods), an engagement so massive it saw most of the planet being destroyed in its defense and required multiple space marine chapters to come to its defense alongside the planet's own guardsmen and Planetary Defense Forces.
Since Agrippa managed to pull off a campaign in Panzer Corps where units get named by viewers, I figured we could probably take this a step forward and make it to where the actions of the army and units are given directions from the participants themselves. The rules for the participants are as follows: one person will be the company commander, his or her job is to essentially decide all of the major decisions; from dialogue choices that decides where the company will find itself heading next, to which units the company itself will employ (from what is available), and deciding what the overall strategy will be for the mission. This is a position I recommend someone with at least some knowledge of the game and setting, however if you know how to play Panzer Corps you should grasp this with relative ease.
This leaves the other participants; who instead will be taking charge of individual units. Should there not be enough people, which is a very likely possibility, they will get a couple of subordinate units who have to be deployed alongside them, as they are acting as a force under one command. These people will be given their orders from the company command and they will decide how they shall achieve their objectives. Should the Company Commander find that they dislike the way a subordinate commander is achieving their objective they can give direct orders for them to pull off their mission in a way Command wishes them to, whether the subordinate likes it or not. However this can only be done once a turn and can only be done a couple of times at most during each mission. Should the subordinate commander be making purposely harmful decisions and show flagrant disregard for their superior's orders with no reasonable explanation (good example: my men are battered, suppressed, and in no position to assault that fortified bunker. Bad example: LOL SCREW YOU I CAN DO WHAT I WANT! You get the picture.) they shall be reported to the commissariat and replaced (i.e your avatar gets a las round to the skull and you get kicked for being unhelpful and detrimental to everyone's fun).
Naturally this format would be great with a group of people who can co-ordinate and follow orders. Please vote in the poll regarding your opinion. Naturally, I will try to answer any questions that come along. Also, should you have recommendations for anything I will be more than happy to hear them.
