Space marines don't get mortars and AT crews But yeah I replace infantry losses with Space Marines (blood angels mostly) Guard infantry is more affordable though. At least the Guard Tanks are better then the Space Marine tanks.

Speaking of Astartes, I am debating on what to do with them. They aren't involved until quite awhile. And it doesn't make much sense that they would take orders from Imperial Guard officers... If we (hopefully) get some extra participants late in the game we could hand them over to him/her. I would be wiling to take control of them but I feel that kinda ruins the idea behind the AAR (me just making the moves and chronicle the events).
Edit: I feel filthy for writing this but we also need more participants. Three great participants in just a short time is amazing but we still will need more progress if we want this to take off. I wonder if it is ok if I advertise during a stream? I wouldn't feel too bad as it would help raise awareness of the forums and would bring other forum visitors in. Plus mentioning it in a previous stream is what got some of you here in the first place, correct? Of course we may bite off more than we can chew and get too many for the beginning missions. Also, we need to decide when we start off and everything... This is going to require a lot of preparation I feel...

Ok, so I have decided to select the company commander via a random number generator, placing my opinion here so anybody with any objections to this idea may speak them. Also, I feel that we may need more players but if all of you think we have enough then I'll get to work on the IC thread and the first battle, I have decided that we may want to go through the tutorial missions first for these reasons:
1) It will allow us to get used to commanding our various units and will give the Company Commander a chance to build up a core force to their liking
2) They are fairly forgiving and perfect for easing us into this process of introducing a chain of command system.
3) It's an easy way to give our little company a backstory as newly raised force
4) It will allow us to figure out how each participant operates, knowing how we all work is instrumental to success.
Again, any objections will be noted and taken into consideration.

As for how the Space Marines would be commanded, I'm not sure how plausible this is as I have not played through the entire Imperial Guard campaign yet, but we could try going for an Imperial Guard only force throughout the campaign (aside from whatever Space Marines the game gives you automatically). And as for the ones that it does give you, only deploy them if you are forced to.

About Space Marines under your command, it's more of an Coordination thing. It's hard to be useful if no one is there to take advantage of your success. Kinda like having Titans under your control, they're loyal to the adeptus Mechanicus above all else but they're useless without an army to help them actually win. They also have a high respect for you which helps too. Also really expensive units, money has been nerfed from what it was after release. But who needs them when you have tanks, Artillery and Super Heavy tanks! A combination of those with Guard infantry can take most things down.

Imperial Knights are unplayable, so not possible unfortunately. Also, the random number generator (will place photos later if anyone wants proof, I am not an expert at proboards so getting a photo from my computer to here is becoming a hassle I don't want to get into at 11:30 pm) has decided that we shall attempt to outdo Gaunt and his silly Tanith First (and Only) and has put Party Commissar in charge, he now bears the chains of commanding heads the chain of command... Yes. Anyway, now he gets to work. His job is to come up with a general idea of what the company shall be composed of unit wise. This allows our participants to choose who they want to command while at the same time have an effective fighting force. Also, I am really happy that the poll is overwhelmingly positive, and I thank the forums for the support. Don't want to sound pushy, but everyone voting who hasn't signed up should do so if they want to join. We may have slots open throughout the whole campaign and there is always a chance for superior officers dying on the field a field promotion via achieved glory, but naturally, it's nice if most if not all join in the beginning if they are able.

Are you talking about signing up on these forums, or do you have some sign up specifically for this campaign that we need to do? We have 8 votes and 4 participants. You need to have an account to vote if I recall. I am just asking the voters to join if they want to.

It'll all work out perfectly, as long as we maintain our faith in the Emperor and remember to duck every now and then when getting shot at (but don't duck too much! We need to shoot back dangit!) The coming war shall create many Graves Heroes in the defense of Armageddon. With many Costly Glorious victories! Hopefully we can keep most of the tutorial units alive long enough to upgrade them into better units, Veterancy really helps keeping a unit nice and punchy.

Real life issues have somewhat sapped me so posting the IC thread will be delayed for a while. Until then, it would be nice for everyone to discuss what our army should consist of in the long term (tank heavy, mechanized infantry, aerial, etc etc). I am incredibly sorry for the delay.
Edit: Also, since we are committed to this and so far no opposition has been raised, I am locking the poll
