Templar Battleforce is a game inspired by Warhammer 40k Space Hulk, Starship troopers, and Dawn of War. The goal of the game is to have your squad complete every objective with your captain still alive. The gameplay may look like Legions of Steel and Space Hulk at the start but you start hitting big differences quickly. For one, your troops are much more durable, easily outclassing their xenos equivalents. There are tactical points that let you gain reinforcements, extra ammunition and health by using points that accumulate turn by turn similar to Dawn of War's Strategic points. The stat and power progression of individual veteran soldiers is also turned up a great deal putting greater emphasis on their survival. Finally your troops get access to equipment by a requisition system similar to a tech tree, with many different play styles accommodated. I should warn that the game can be rather difficult at times due to the enemy's sheer numbers. The AI is relentless and it will use whatever it has available to kill your veterans. You will often find your squad limping to the exit with a horde of bloodthirsty xenos right behind them. Overall its a fun game for less than $10 USD and its worth a look if your a fan of top dow, turn based, tactics games.
